In 1918, Eleanor learnsed the affair her husband has with his social secretary, Lucy Mercer (Women). Unfortunately, their marriage took a devastation blow and never fully recovered. Eleanor threatened with part unless Franklin ended the affair, and Franklin agreed (Women).
